Hanescu eases past Querrey, meets Raonic in second round

CHENNAI, Jan 3, 2012 - Romanian Victor Hanescu eased past American Sam Querrey 6-3, 6-4 in the Aircel Chennai Open to fix a second round date with Canadian fourth seed and world number 31 Milos Raonic.

Hanescu broke his opponent, who is ranked three places lower at 93, in the fourth game to clinch the opening set in the 5,800-seater centre court at the SDAT-Nungambakkam Tennis Stadium.

Querrey rifled in nine aces as compared to just three by his opponent, but the American also committed eight double faults, and failed to build on the advantage of his big serve.
