In the third set, the Indian express played what was one of the overwhelming super tie-breaks of the tournament, where the Indian express won the deciding breaker 10-7.The fans at the stadium were elated and overjoyed to see their favourite duo display their ‘chest thumping’ play after a nine year hiatus to win the final match at the 2011 Aircel Chennai Open.

Leander Paes said, “It’s a great feeling to win this tournament back home. We have already won 4 times at this event and we also won the Davis cup in Chennai in 2010. After a nine year break, it’s a great way to start off, don’t you think?” he asked his doubles partner, Mahesh Bhupathi. He moved on to say, “I would like to thank everyone behind the scenes for making this event possible. We hope to play together in India again and we are extremely happy to have won the Doubles title at the Aircel Chennai open once again.”
